Why We Support K.I.D.S (and Giving Back)
As a member of a group of socially responsible brands, giving back is part of the brand culture at GooseWaddle. We believe that a small company with a big mission has the power to change the lives of those in need.
There are a few reasons why GooseWaddle gives back by donating blankets to Kids In Distressed Situations through our Buy 1, Give 1 Program.
1. The Perfect Fit. K.I.D.S. is an organization that provides people impacted by poverty and tragedy with new merchandise to improve the well-being, self-esteem, and dignity of at-risk families. That is a mission that anyone can stand by, but we wanted to get involved and make an impact on the lives of those who needed help. Our visions are so closely aligned that working with K.I.D.S made a great match. GooseWaddle wanted to work with an organization that could benefit from our expertise in textiles and K.I.D.S. recognized a need for getting warmth to mothers and their babies- thus donating baby blankets made for a perfect partnership.
2. Cover Those In Need. GooseWaddle was born with more than a desire to sell baby blankets, but rather to give moms the comfort of covering their baby in warmth while also knowing they were helping another mom do the same. KIDS developed the concept of Safe Sleep Centers, which focuses on sending baby gear to areas in the country that have high rates of sudden infant death syndrome. Every time a GooseWaddle blanket covers your baby, feel better knowing you are covering another baby in need.
3. Bring Joy. More joy, less worry. Mothers shouldn’t have to worry about where they are going to sleep or if their baby will be warm at night. Partnering with K.I.D.S. has made it possible to provide new (not used!) blankets to mothers all over the country, bringing them a sense of relief and hope for a better future as their basic needs are met. We strive to bring joy to mothers who want to feel protected and safe with their baby no matter their unfortunate circumstance.
4. For the Kids: This point is best described with a story we recently received from one of the community partners at K.I.D.S. : In Braddock, Pennsylavania an organization was created to alleviate, prevent and end homelessness through a variety of supportive services. Braddock was a town that went bankrupt several years ago – the mayor actually pulled out his own personal retirement fund to pay firemen, police and other essential departments to keep the town going. They serve the entire town (500+ families) and they are slowly but surely pulling themselves out of dire economic situations. Through GooseWaddle’s Buy 1, Give 1 Program, blankets were donated to this town in efforts to help struggling families get back on their feet. A picture of a little girl was sent to us clutching her new blanket. We were told that this little girl’s favorite colors were pink and red, and that she wouldn’t let go of her blanket even when she finished her nap! We support K.I.D.S. for the children who will have better lives because of those who acted on the opportunity to give back.
